Why book your travel through Getaway Travel Specialists vs just calling a low-cost travel company? As Warren Buffet has said, "Price is what you pay. Value is what you get." When you contact us to book your next vacation, we can usually get you the same prices you will see online or in a brochure you get in the mail. That's price. But, we provide added value. Examples would be our knowledge about the product, being able to put all pieces of your vacation together seamlessly, keeping you informed of any email we get from your hotel, cruise company, and answering a variety of questions you might have. All of us agents go through a variety of ongoing training and certifications. 

Our specialty is that personal service. As one of our travelers recently pointed out, it's the personal service that sets us apart. We take pride in getting to know our clients. We aren't just a random reservation agent. We can't always travel with you, but we make it a point to be there for you. 

Research shows that it's vitally important to take a break from everyday work and chores to recharge our batteries. Travel is an excellent way to unwind and reset ourselves. Whether it's a getaway for one or two people or a large group, we do it all. We especially love to help fulfill your travel dreams for special occasions (such as birthdays, anniversaries, retirement or honeymoons). We are also excited to be able to do FUNd-raising vacations to benefit non-profit organizations.

My family traveled very little as I was growing up, seldom leaving Northern California, but I've always had the travel bug. In my younger adult years, I was always the person who put together fun group trips for friends and family in addition to our personal travels. In 2004, a friend told me about training to become a travel agent - and the rest is history. 

I love the variety that comes with travel, whether it's by land, river or sea. I have become a specialist with several ocean and river cruise lines and have passed the rigorous coursework to become a Master Cruise Counselor with the Cruise Line Industry Association. If you want a cruise vacation, I can help match your travel style with a few cruise lines and provide the personal service for that vacation.

Destination-wise, I love Hawaii, but one of my favorite areas to explore is the rest of the South Pacific. Fiji is a favorite and the island nation of Vanuatu was the vacation I didn't want to come home from. Europe is also a favorite. For some reason, I especially love France although I don't speak the language. 

My husband is a Vietnam-era Navy veteran and active for many years with the Military Vehicle Collectors of California. Among the military history group travels I've put together were the 70th and 75th anniversaries of the attack on Pearl Harbor. War & Peace in England and Normandy for the 70th anniversary of D-day, identifying European military history sites for the adult children of veterans, and a 2-week military-history focused trip to the supply and training area of Vanuatu. I am also associated with Valor Tours to offer their trips to my clients at no extra cost. 

Coordinating group trips is what I started doing, and I still love it. Whether it's to raise funds for non-profits like animal welfare agencies or chambers of commerce, a family exploring their heritage, or to gather a group together for a wine or culinary cruise in Europe or for Oktoberfest in Germany.
