We LOVE this Viking river cruise to kick off the holiday season and put us into that holiday mood! We especially like the itinerary - start in Zurich on Dec. 29 with our hotel next to the main train station's indoor Christmas market with its 50-ft Christmas tree covered in glittering Swarovski crystals. A couple days later, board your Viking river ship at the Rhine's headwaters in Basel, cruising past castles and stopping daily (and often into the evening) at several Christmas markets. At Koblenz, we'll turn off the Rhine and follow the Moselle to its navigable end in Trier and the nearby tiny country of Luxembourg. At Trier, we will transfer to a bus to Reims, France in the Champagne region. The Christmas market there is one of the top 5 Christmas markets in France! After a day and overnight there, we will head to Paris for a few days. In Paris, we will have a tour of the City's highlights, have time for optional touring as a group or on our own, and to enjoy one or two of the eight Christmas markets of Paris.
Onboard our ship, there will be cookie decorating, tree trimming and other Christmas activities. On one or two evenings, local entertainment will be brought onboard the ship for an extra-special holiday performance.
Definitely a memorable and out-of-the-ordinary way to start the Christmas holiday season!

This getaway starts in Zurich on Dec. 29, so we will need to leave the U.S. on Dec. 28 or before. You may want to add on extra nights in Zurich or at the end in Paris. We can also help you with those arrangements.
